Unique personalized sympathy gifts express timely thoughtfulness to a bereaved person. They become treasured mementos of the life of a loved one who has passed on.

There are a number of ways to personalize a gift. You can incorporate a photo, have an item engraved, or use a particularly meaningful item to the griever.

An original poem can be created to celebrate and commemorate the special times you shared, or to highlight a particular achievement accomplished by the departed loved one.

Engraved Items

There is almost no end to the items one can have engraved to express sympathy in the loss of a loved one.

Items of jewelry such as lockets, charm bracelets, and various styles of pendants such as crosses can be meaningful mementos of a deceased loved one.

Photo frames can be engraved with names, dates and phrases and adorned with designs that evoke special times shared with the loved one.

Ornaments for the holiday tree or centerpiece are very popular and can be particularly meaningful since holidays are a time when grief is amplified.

A variety of shapes and styles of plaques, or garden stones can be engraved with names, dates and expressions of remembrance.

Men’s accessories like cufflinks, necklaces or accessory boxes make memorable personalized sympathy gifts, and flower vases, glassware, portfolios and journals all can be engraved as well.

Other Personalized Gifts

Candy jars, key rings and canvas art can be personalized to reflect the joys and wisdom imparted by the loved one who is no longer with us.

Poems written for the departed one or for the survivors make wonderful personalized sympathy gifts and can be incorporated into frames, artwork or books to use as gifts.

Scrapbooks created based on the life of the deceased are healing both to create and to receive. This idea can be applied as a gift created by a friend or family member, or as a project for the mourning person to complete as the healing process begins.

Personalized wooden and glass sculptures reminiscent of special interests or passions of the deceased make elegant sympathy gifts that keep on giving. Hand-making personalized gifts makes them particularly special and communicates love and caring with the gift of your time and creativity.

Wall hangings are a wonderful idea for personalized gifts in memory of a loved one, and photo quilts , while taking much more time to create, are unmistakably personal and long lasting.

For the person who appreciates body art, a gift certificate for a personalized permanent tattoo could be the perfect sympathy gift.

Many people who would never have thought of this type of memento have acquired memorial images of butterflies, dragonflies, roses or other images representative of things that delighted their deceased daughter, son or spouse.

Giving a personalized gift to a griever is a thoughtful way to memorialize someone who was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.

It shows that additional thought and time has been invested in the choice of the gift as well as the production.

Public Personalized Sympathy Offerings

Memorial gardens, statuary and plants are specialized personal sympathy gifts, and most often are placed in the home or garden of the surviving family members.

However, park benches, trail signs or special tree plantings can be placed in other areas with special permission.

Whatever your decision in selecting a personalized gift to express your sympathy, I know that your grieving friend or family member will be especially blessed by your thoughtfulness and love.

Many people are under the impression that in a fight, the best thing to do with your hands is to ball them up into fists. This idea is so common that we use the phrase “fist fight.” However, in reality, open hand strikes can be more effective fighting tools than fists in almost any situation. This is why open hands are used in martial arts styles such as Kun Tao, Pentjak Silat, and Combat Tai Chi.

People often use fists because they believe that the fist delivers more force. Without proper training, this might be the case. However, at a certain level, this is no longer true. Martial artists will test the force that they can deliver with targets such as bricks, striking pads, or boards. They have found that when enough force is being delivered, the small bones that are exposed in a fist simply do not hold up against the force conveyed.

In contrast, when open-handed strikes are used, the soft parts of the hand mold themselves around the hard parts of a strike’s object. This has a two-fold effect. First, the hand of the martial artist is protected. There is much less risk that the hand of the striker will be injured. Second, this molding can actually convey more force. When the palm and the fingers come in contact with and mold themselves around a target, they covers much more surface area than could be reached by a fist.

A well-trained martial artist will not simply be using the force of the arm or the hardness of the fist in an attack. Instead, the power of the whole body, from the feet all the way up through the torso and the arms will be put into the strike. The surface area of an open hand strike allows all of that power to be transferred through the hand into the target of the hit.

The power of open-handed strikes is not the only reason they are superior to a fist in a fight. Open hands also offer far more versatility than fists. They transform more easily into other kinds of attacks. This kind of strike can easily become a finger poke to the eye or to another sensitive spot. They can also turn into a grab or even into a fist in the right situation much more easily than a fist can change into anything else. This versatility has benefits on the defensive side of things as well. An open hand can defend against a knee or an elbow strike whereas a fist could do almost nothing against these two kinds of attacks.

Open hand strikes are also a lot faster than fist techniques. More open hand strikes can be delivered per second than is possible with fist attacks. Furthermore, this kind of attack can also be the basis for more powerful strikes. They can be used for destructive Kung Fu techniques such as iron palm, vibrating palm, penetrating palm, poison palm and even dim make, or death touch strikes.

While at first glance the fist might seem like a more practical fighting tool, never underestimate the power of the opened hand.

Sigung Richard Clear has been studying martial arts in both the United States and China for over 30 years. To learn more about Kun Tao and other martial arts that use open hands, visit his website at www.clearsilat.com.

Here we are in December and I feel like I have taken on a part time job to go with my full time job and all my other responsibilities. Of course, I am talking about getting ready for Christmas. I’m talking about decorating the house and tree, sending Christmas cards, buying and wrapping gifts, baking cookies and other goodies, extra social engagements, church activities, and all the other activities and responsibilities that seem to come with Christmas. I’m sure you know exactly what I mean and that you are also wondering how you are going to find time for it all?

The Pareto principle states that 80% of our greatest benefit comes from 20% of our efforts. At this time of year especially we have to trim our schedule and decrease the number of activities that fall into the 80% that are not contributing to our greatest benefit. Granted, deciding what these activities are can be difficult to say the least.

Consider your activities according to these five categories and focus mostly on the first two :

- Important and Urgent- if you don’t get gas right now you may end up sitting by the side of the road with an empty tank and you have a child waiting to be picked up after school at 5PM.

- Important and Not Urgent- sleeping, spending time with your family, eating healthy meals, getting enough sleep.

- Urgent but Not Important-the telephone rings right when you are in the middle of something, the dog runs across the kitchen floor with muddy feet.

- Busy Work- checking and answering e-mails, making sure you do things perfectly, not delegating easy tasks that could easily be delegated.

- Wasted Time-too much socializing around the water cooler or on the telephone, too much social networking, too much television, perfectionism.

To find enough time to get ready for and enjoy your Christmas, you must start with a plan. Start by listing all your Christmas activities, then consider the importance of each. Do you bake dozens of carefully decorated Christmas cookies because it is something you have always done? Do you participate in a Christmas cookie exchange or a church gift exchange for the same reason? What if you skipped the cookies or made drop cookies instead of iced cookies this year? Or maybe ordered cookies from a bakery? What if you skipped the church gift exchange and spent that time focused on family gifts? What if your family agreed to buy gifts for the children only and not for the adults? Or maybe draw names for the family gift exchange? Which social activities and parties are important to YOU and which do you attend just because you always have or someone else expects you to? Which activities might you be able to delegate? Maybe hire a high school neighbor child to wrap gifts for you or put up the outside decorations? What time wasters and unimportant tasks and activities can you eliminate this month?

“Efficiency is doing things right, but effectiveness is doing the right things.” ~Peter Drucker~

Perfectionism is another time waster! There is a big difference is doing things correctly, doing a good job and trying to do things perfectly. Of course, some activities need to be done better than others. If you are driving you will want to strive for a higher level of excellence than if you are gift wrapping. Driving is a life or death activity and getting the bows perfect on your gifts is not. Parkinson’s law states that work expands to fill the time available. You can always do an activity a little bit better, a little bit fancier, a little bit bigger. The cure for this is to schedule a reasonable but specific amount of time for a task, set a timer, and then be done with that task when the timer goes off.

It has been found that multitasking also wastes time. Your concentration is divided and each interruption requires you to refocus and reconcentrate. You get much more accomplished when you block out a period of time to work uninterrupted on your task or project. A British study found that workers who were interrupted by phone calls, text messages, and e-mails suffered a greater loss of IQ than if they were smoking marijuana. Sleep deprivation also lowers your effectiveness so shortchanging yourself on sleep to get the extra tasks of Christmas completed is usually a mistake. One thing to remember when blocking out time, after two or three hours your brain becomes fatigued and efficiency decreases significantly so it is best to set your schedule to change activities every two or three hours.

One final thought regarding getting is all done this month relates to organization. Wasting time finding things you have misplaced occurs when you are surrounded by clutter. Keep surfaces cleared and put things away where they belong so you can find them quickly the next time you need them. Another reason for having desk and counters clear is that having a jumble of things in your view is distracting. Only have what you are working on in front of you and you will concentrate better and finish your activity more quickly and accurately.

I hope these ideas will help you make your Christmas the best ever, full of what is important to YOU and free of everything that does not matter to YOU.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This Christmas, farm toys are no doubt going to be a part of your holiday wish list, as they are every year. If your little farmer is interested in farms and animals, you’re no doubt curious as to what you might put on your holiday gift list. There are some classics, of course. After all, who can forget the song “The Farmer in the Dell”? There are also plenty of newcomers to the farm toy market, making each Christmas shopping season different from the last. Here are some of the most popular farm toys this year:

1) The John Deere pedal tractor

What says farm more than John Deere? This maker of grown-up farm implements is also known for their line of tractor toys. Perhaps the most popular of these is the John Deere pedal tractor. This season, your youngest farmer may be interested in a pedal car, and what better way to kill two birds with one stone than to purchase a John Deere pedal tractor? Featuring all metal siding and a seat that allows younger children to navigate around the barnyard without needing the balancing skills that would be required of them on a regular bicycle, this is a great way to pair imaginative farm play with outdoor exercise. The John Deere tractor pedal car will no doubt provide hours of active entertainment for younger children. Because it is larger than many other John Deere toys, for your best bet of finding it in stock buy online.

2) Scale models of farm equipment

Always one of the most popular farm-related toys for kids of all ages, there are several companies making scale models, including ERTL and John Deere. These toys will allow your children to play with a fraction of the real deal. Many different varieties of farm equipment are available, and your children can mix and match to create a mini-farm that is all their own.

3) Animal Toys

If you’re looking into farm toys, you’ll no doubt be interested in some of the animal toys that are available. Many of these toys are cast from durable plastic, and can be combined to create an authentic farm that includes horses, pigs and cattle. From the simplest styles designed for toddlers to more realistic models for older children, animals are a must-have for stocking the farm.

4) Trains

Trains are another piece of Americana that doesn’t seem to fade in popularity where toys are concerned. If your child has set up a pretend farm, why not have a train track to run alongside it? There are, of course, many versions of the ever-popular toy train, from Thomas the Train for the preschool set to more elaborate setups with real working engines.

Regardless of the age, ability level or interests of your child, you’ll be able to find some great toys this holiday season. Farm toys are always in vogue, and so you will have plenty to choose from. From John Deere farm implements, including the pedal tractor, to models of farm animals and equipment, your child will have hours of fun with their pretend farm.

Ask anyone in the work force and they’ll tell you, working from home sounds like heaven on earth. The ability to set your own hours, work at your own pace, all without the big boss man looking over your shoulder….yeah, most of us could go for that. Unfortunately, a lot of carrots are dangled in front of frustrated job seekers, promising big bucks for working a few hours a day in your pajamas…but if you take the bait, you may find the carrots have a bad taste.

Work from home scams are a big business, and they are big because so many people readily buy into them. It all sounds good, but before you know it you have wasted both time and money, your get rich quick scheme becoming a go nowhere fast proposition rather quickly. Nowhere does the old adage “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” apply better than when examining various work from home opportunities. In this article we will examine some of the more nefarious offerings available, and hopefully help a few of you avoid the mistakes so many others have made.

The Mom Work From Home Scam. The is almost a cliche in its own right, the image of a suburban housewife making $2000 every week working only two or three hours each day. The pitch is to post links for popular search engines such as Google or Yahoo, and for only a few dollar you will receive a kit containing the links and instructions for posting them.

Unfortunately, that modest upfront fee that was asked of you becomes the doorway for monthly charges to their credit cards and bank accounts on the order of $50 or more. Even if you realize you have been scammed right away, the chances of recovering any of the lost money are slim.

Probably the biggest, most classic work from home scam of all time was the perennial favorite: “Make Money Stuffing Envelopes At Home!” This gem advertised earnings in excess of $1500 weekly. In actuality, once you pay your upfront fee (for administrative duties, of course), you receive nothing more than the same ad you responded to, with instructions on how to place it in newspapers or magazines. The only way you might see any money at all is if someone responds to your ad, which of course, they won’t. Of course by the time you realize you’ve been had, your money is long since gone. The crazy first cousin to the envelope stuffing scam is the “craft assembly scam” which follows the same template designed to separate you from your money.

Medical billing is one of the newer scams out there, where you pay anywhere from $300-$900 for everything you (supposedly) need to start your own medical billing service out of the comfort of your own home. You’ll be promised the latest in medical billing software as well as a list of clients in your area. The truth is that medical clinics process their own billing or outsource to professional, reputable firms.

The 900 Number Scam. This one doesn’t even pretend to actually have a job available. Their primary goal is to get you to call their 900 number, which of course costs money. That’s where they make their profit; they don’t even have to worry about coming up with a convincing con game.

Your computer is a “money making machine”. I love this one because it is so blatantly transparent. You basically pay your upfront fee only to receive instructions on how to place ads to pull in other people who want to turn their computers into money making machines. Picture a cat chasing his tail and you’ll get the idea.

So how do you avoid getting scammed in the work from home marketplace? It is surprisingly easy:

Rule #1: NEVER pay for the chance to work. No other employer would ask for money upfront before hiring you, so why should work at home opportunities be any different? The minute someone starts feeling for your wallet, run.

Rule #2: Verify the business. Make sure they have a physical address and a phone number, then call the number to make sure it is legit. To top it all off, Google them. Anything good or bad will be at your fingertips. Surefire warning signs of an illegitimate company include use of free web hosting or e-mail services, P.O. Boxes, and lack of a phone number.

Rule #3: Look for pie in the sky claims. If anybody is promising $1000 a week for a couple hours work each day, forget it. There are no shortcuts when it comes to making money. Either be prepared to part with some sweat or forget it.

Rule #4: Avoid spammed e-mail offers. Most fraudulent work from home offers come in the form of e-mail spam. The more incredible the offer sounds, the less likely it is legitimate.

If you truly want to work from home and exercise some measure of control over your time, your pay, and your life, the best thing to do is simply start your own home based business. Determine if there is a service you offer that people would be willing to pay for, then market that service accordingly. It’s not easy, and you won’t get rich quick, but it is the single most logical manner to achieve your goals.

Let me tell you a story.

Just about everybody I know wishes they could get a little more done each day. I’d like to share with you the story of a simple idea. While simple, it is so powerful that it has helped at least one major corporation become dominant in its industry. It earned the man who came up with it an extra $25,000. It has also helped many people increase their productivity. It can work for you. So if you’d like to learn how to get more done every day, read on.

Before I start the story, let me just be clear. The story is true, but since there was no official record made of the words actually spoken, they have been lost to history. I’ve had to make up the dialog. It doesn’t matter though, the important thing about this story is the technique it teaches, anyway.

“I Don’t Need More Knowing”

The management consultant named Ivy Lee felt confident as he wrapped up his presentation. And why shouldn’t he? He’d picked up big clients before, and he also knew this company could really use his help.

The man on the other side of the room to whom Ivy was presenting was Charles M. Schwab. The tag on the desk read “President” and the sign on the wall said “Bethlehem Steel”. Schwab’s physique may have been a bit on the pudgy side, but the look in his eye was as hard as any of the steel that left his plant.

Lee met the company president’s steely gaze. “In short, Mr. Schwab, if you give me the opportunity to work with yourself and a few of your top executives, I will teach you all to manage the affairs of this company more efficiently. I’ll teach your men to speak so that the public is always behind you. As a matter of fact, within a couple of weeks, you will know exactly how-”

Schwab waved a hand and shook his head. “Listen, Mr. Lee. You make a great presentation. You’re services sound like they are top notch. We just don’t need to learn what you have to teach right now. I don’t need more ‘knowing’ at all. I can honestly say that I already don’t manage as well as I know how.” He clasped his hands an laid them on the desk. “More teaching isn’t going to help. We already know what we should be doing.” He tilted his head and chuckled. “Of course, if you could enlighten us with a way to get it done, I’d be happy to compensate you however you want.”

The flat rejection almost shook Ivy. Almost. He knew that a weaker man would have bid a hasty retreat, but he was not a weak man. He controlled his breathing and stayed calm. That’s when the idea struck him.

Schwab leaned back in his giant chair. “Is there anything else I can do for you before you go?”

Ivy nodded, then stood up straight and stepped toward the Schwab’s desk. “Fair enough. What would you do if I said I can give you something withing the next twenty minutes that will immediately allow you to get done at least at least 50% more than you do now?”

Schwab’s eyebrow shot up and he leaned forward again. “Well, then, I suppose I’d listen.”

A Simple Idea

Lee turned and smiled. This was a great idea. It was simple to teach, simple to implement, and it would surely fix Schwab’s problem. He picked up then rummaged through his briefcase until he found a blank piece of paper. He strode across the room, placed the paper on the desk, then slid it over until it was in front of the steel man.

Schwab appeared mildly confused. He looked from the paper up to Ivy and back again.

Lee stepped back and pointed. “See that ordinary piece of paper?”

Schwab shrugged his shoulders and looked up again. “Of course.”

“The first thing you need to do is this. Take a moment and jot down the six most important things you need to get done tomorrow.”

Schwab slowly reached for a pen, thought for a minute or two, the scribbled down his six items. When he finished, he tossed his pen onto the desk. “Done. Now what?”

Lee smiled and put his hands in his pockets. “The second thing is to number them in order of importance.”

Schwab stretched across the big desk and snatched the pen he had just flung. He closed his eyes for a breath, then scratched the numbers one through six next to the appropriate items.

He set the pen close and nodded. “There.”

Lee’s smile widened. “The third and final thing is this. Tomorrow when you walk through that door and sit at your beautiful desk to work, you start by working on the item you’ve labeled with a one. You don’t do anything else. You work on that first item until it is done. Distractions are going to come up. Just ignore them. Again, you work on your number one item until it is done. When it’s done, you move on to the second item. When that is done you can move on to the third one, and so on until you finish the list, that is, if you can finish it. Then, at the end of every work day, you start over by making a new list. Don’t spend time worrying about the things that you don’t get done. Because you will have thought about what is most important, you know that you have done the most possible good possible for Bethlehem Steel, and I guarantee you’ll have completed more than you used to. And if you can’t get all six items done this way, you couldn’t finish them using any other method, either. I’m so confident that this is going to work, that I’m not even going to set a price on this idea. Just use it for a week or two. See how valuable it is. Teach a few of your people to do it. When you have seen how much more you can get done, well, then you send me a check for whatever you think it’s worth.”

Schwab rolled his chair back, stood, and extended a hand. His eyes had changed. Now they looked completely lost in thought.

Lee shook his hand, then gathered up his presentation materials and left without a word. He knew his idea was a winner.

What The Idea Was Worth

A few weeks later, Ivy got a letter in the mail on Bethlehem Steel stationary. In the letter, Schwab detailed how Ivy’s idea was the single most profitable thing, from a bottom line money perspective, that he had ever been taught.

Folded up in the letter was a company check written to Ivy Lee in the amount of $25,000.

Since that time, many have said that this simple technique was instrumental in the growth of Bethlehem Steel from an obscure steel mill to one of the largest producers of steel in the world.

So, to put it another way, the “Six Items” technique was literally worth millions to Bethlehem Steel. How much will it be worth to you?

Another year has flown by and another the festive period is already upon us. In the run up to Christmas there will be a huge amount of retailers who will all be competing for your hard earned pennies as they do every year. It should go without saying that in the current financial climate shoppers will be looking round for deals on good presents as no parents would want to disappoint their children on this of all days. As technology has become cheaper, the demands of children have become that much greater with games consoles, mobile phones, mp3 players and cameras being a fixture on many children’s christmas lost. Of course christmas is not just for children as the older generation will also be looking for ways to treat their loved ones. With the seemindly endless selection of electronic consumables on the market it can be difficult to know where to start.

As money has been tight for everyone this year customers will be looking much harder to find bargains. As christmas day grows ever nearer you may start to see shops putting on sales for particular electrical and electronic consumables. This will be especially true once the festive period is over, however not everyone will be willing to wait until christmas is over to buy their present, however if your loved ones are willing to wait a little longer then perhaps cash or a gift vouchers could be a suitable option.

If you do your homework and shop around you may will be able to land yourself a bargain. Make sure that you look out for products which are soon to be superceded with a newer model as the old one is likely to be reduced in price significantly when the new version comes out. It is very common for manufacturers to do this so you would be wise to keep your ear to the ground and perhaps leaf through a few technology magazines to see what trends are likely to develop. The alternative scenario that could develop is that as christmas draws nearer, your chosen gift runs out of stuck so you may find yourself in the odd situation of not knowing whether to pounce whilst the product is still available or waiting to see if it comes down in price.

As an example you may find that as HDTVs and the new 3D TVs have become increasingly popular, the older style LCD televisions come down in price. If you know someone who is less particular about the picture quality of their television but would still like a large screen on which to view their favourite shows then this could be an ideal solution. If you are more of a novice when it comes to shopping for electrical goods then try to find some reviews on the internet to help inform your shopping a little better. Whatever audio visual equipment you decide to treat your loved ones to this christmas, take your time, shop sensibly and remember to leave a mince pie out for santa!

With the holiday season rapidly approaching, you may be trying to track down gifts for all the car lovers on your list. Finding a gift for the car lover in your life can be a real challenge, but there seem to be some gifts that appeal to all different types of car lovers, whether they love driving around in their luxury Porsche or a ’67 Mustang is more their style.

1. Help them navigate the roads. GPS comes standard in many newer car models, but it certainly isn’t universal. Portable models can be easily installed in different vehicles, including vintage or collector cars, without much effort. Some models are particularly well suited for certain types of drivers or types of vehicles. Larger models may be more convenient for those who like taking long trips and need to see a big picture of where they’re headed. Smaller versions are often more convenient for drivers who simply need a little helping hand every now and again.

2. Keep it clean. Any true car lover is probably pretty picky about the appearance of their car. Purchasing a gift certificate to have a car detailed is kind of like buying a spa-day for their car. Professional detailing cleans the car inside and out, creating a “show room” appearance. A great alternative gift is to purchase car cleaning materials, such as high-quality car waxes and soaps.

3. Turn it up.Road trips and music simply go together. If the car lover in your life doesn’t already have a good stereo, you may want to look into the option of having the car stereo upgraded. XM radio and MP3 players offer great options for those on the go. Looking for a less expensive option? CDs or iTunes gift certificates are always appreciated by those who spend hours in their car each week.

4. Safety first. Car lovers don’t like to think that their vehicle will break down on them, but these things do happen. If your driver doesn’t already have a road-side assistance plan, like AAA, you may want to consider purchasing a membership. Companies like AAA offer towing, jump-starting and lock-opening services. You may also want to consider an emergency kit for your driver. These small kits can be stowed in the trunk of nearly any car. There are also several “safety tools” on the market that feature devices that can break glass and cut seatbelts.

5. Satisfy their need for speed. Depending on your location, you may want to look into gifts that might appeal to the more adventurous driver. Some areas offer open race course driving with some instruction, or the opportunity to test-drive rare luxury cars.

6. Their favorite car… In Miniature. No matter what vehicle they drive – or wish they drove – there is a miniature version out there somewhere. From the smallest Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, through model vehicles created for adult collectors, and even the child-size pedal car, these make a great gift for the car collectors on your list. A visually appealing design, nostalgia, and their favorite hobby all rolled into one – what could be better?

In the last few years, the number of single people who have adopted their own children has increases. This is due as much to the many unmarried and successful individuals who feel a gnawing lack of personal fulfillment in themselves as to the open-mindedness with which single-parent adoption has come to be regarded. In fact, adoption and foster care no longer just tolerates it but of encouraging single-parent adoption. It has produced very good results both for the children and the parents in a great majority of cases.

Adoption and foster care fulfills the desire to share life

Many unmarried professionals have reached a more than satisfactory level of material security in life and wish to share their goods with less privileged people. As everyone should be aware of, Material possessions do not hold the secret to living a happy life.

Of course, most people will have their nephews and nieces to focus their attention on. But, unless those children are themselves orphans, single people can not regard them as their own. Nephews and nieces may pay their aunt visits every so often and may even stay over for a night or two but will never stand in the relationship as an adopted child would.

Ever since the law allowed single parents to take in children from foster homes, they no longer have to content themselves with knowing something about being a parent. They have every right now have their own children for whom they will be honored to take responsibility and whose welfare they can use every means in their power to promote and safeguard. Helping the child to grow to be a responsible member of society is an action that blesses both parent and child. In addition, they won’t have to worry who gets to inherit their possessions when the time comes for that.

Giving grace where it is lacking through adoption and foster care

With adoption by a single parent, the child stands a better chance for actualizing himself. When children are adopted in a family that has siblings already, they may feel inferior or inhibited for a time. Besides that, the possibility that they will not be liked by the other siblings cannot be ruled out. On the other hand, this opportunity to share blessings with the less fortunate will prove very beneficial for the adopting parent herself because an important part of being human is sharing your life with others.

Adoption and foster care helps society

When single people adopt their own children, they are actually doing society a big favor. For one, they stand to broaden their perspective on life and in that way improve their own personalities. There are things that interacting as a parent can teach that cannot be learned from books. People living alone tend to lack the ability of empathizing and adjusting to others. Adoption is one good way of developing the habits that contribute to social interaction.

The child’s own self-image is given a boost because he knows he has been specially chosen by his adoptive parent from among many other children. Living in a foster home cannot improve that morale very much. That is why when children in foster homes stay there only until a certain age.

Currently, there is still a great need for adaptive families. Even if you are single, you may qualify.

Composing music is an art that requires a lot dedication that most people prefer not to venture into due to the fear that their music may not be fully accepted. Simple ways that can help in coming up with your own wonderful compositions include:

1. Have a music composition goal

Before embarking on composing it is good to understand why you are composing the song. Is it for you or for others? This will highly influence the words and the tone in the music.

2. Understand your mood

Music is an expression of how one feels and thus it is very important to understand what exactly the music should portray.

3. Always start with lyrics before writing the music

This may sound absurd but it works very well for inexperienced composers. When one comes up with words first, he/she is able to formulate the right beats that will fit into the lyrics. Writing lyrics also helps one to understand what words to focus on and thus to be used more times in the song.

4. Listen to your brain

For most renowned composers, music starts lyrics which keep on repeating themselves in the mind. For amateur composers it’s advisable to write down such words to come up with lyrics. During such a session, a quiet environment is the most ideal as it promotes one’s level of thinking.

5. Learn from compositions of others

Having made your own music is important to compare what you have made with what others have come up with. That is why it’s important to have a musical role model/mentor with whom you can compare works. This also helps one to learn about the areas where they need to improve or the changes needed on their own compositions.

6. Make Use of music composition software

Music composition software is a set of programs that help in writing, music by helping to organize one’s work and allows one to see what they are playing. The software comes with a playback feature to allow the composer listen to what he has come up with and thus make the necessary changes.

7. Chose the right instruments

Accompaniments make music to definitely sound better. Thus it’s important to choose those instruments that will bring out the desired sound and beat. A grand piano is a great way to start as it brings out the notes more clearly.

8. Seek honest opinions of others

It’s good to let others hear what you have come up with as they are in a position to advice you on which areas need improve. A person who is not as close would be able to give unbiased opinions.

9. Do something different

For instance learn how to play a new instrument that will make the overall quality of music better or practice an octave higher.

10. Practice makes perfect

Never stop practicing even when you think you’ve got it all pat. A daily practice routine will go a long way in yielding a desired outcome.
