I own an ’08 four-wheel drive Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab. It has the 5.3-liter v8, plenty of power to haul the equipment my job requires. After some research and simple adjustments, I am able to average 20 and sometimes even 23 miles per gallon on the highway! Although this is not great, it is much better than comparable vehicles.

If you want to improve your gas mileage significantly, you have to consider a couple different factors. If you can save a .5 mile per gallon by changing to a better air filter, another 1 mpg with the electronics, this will start to add up. I will also note that for all the gas saving adjustments you could make, the least expensive and most beneficial will be behavioral changes. Adjusting one’s driving style to conserve fuel will have the most significant effect.

Some of the simple things I was to do myself to improve the gas mileage in my Chevy Silverado 1500 truck include:

When clean they spray a fine mist of fuel into the cylinder that instantly and efficiently combusts, providing more power to the engine, and more mileage out of the same fuel. Concerning spark plugs, the AC Delco plugs that came as standard equipment are hard to beat. They should be clean though, and checked regularly.

Replace Your Air Filter

You do not have to spring for a fancy K&N cold air filter in your Chevy Silverado, but replacing the air filter you do have can yield significant improvement in the gas mileage of your Chevy full size truck. Even taking out the filter that is in the truck and vacuuming it to remove the dust can help. If you do go for the “cold air intake” upgrade, be sure not to use the extra horsepower to “hot rod” around, or you will certainly negate any gains.

Though this may seem short at first, it is greater than the daily commute for 75% of America’s workforce. After the battery is depleted, a four-cylinder gas engine (premium only) and 55kW generator are utilized to provide electricity and extend the Volt’s range another 310 miles (499km). While there are many myths regarding the use of all-electric hybrids, some of them are no longer an issue. After a short stint as the Ford 500, the Taurus is back and better than ever before. The new model is completely made over and much better than ever before. The roofline is lower and the belt line has been raised, which seems to follow the other recently redesigned American muscle cars.

You can select from three trims, ranging from the base SE model which starts at $26k to the top of the line SHO model which costs approximately $38k. The base model vehicle has a 3.5 liter V6 engine which puts out 263 hp and 249 lb-ft. of torque through a front wheel drive. When cars are traveling down a road and there are a few speeders mixed with other cars who are not speeding, it can be hard for a police officer. They will point their radar machine toward the flow of traffic and stop the driver they feel was speeding. In most cases the police officer is correct and has pulled over the speeding driver.
