I recently read a post in a blog (http://multibrand.blogspot.com) concerning President SBY of Indonesia ambition to run for a third term despite the constitutional provision for a two term period and it seems just like yesterday to me. Obviously the Obasanjo’s Syndrome seem to be creeping into the hearts of leaders abroad wanting to tow the third term line by all means to perpetuate in power. Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo was in power from 1999-2007 and at the tail end of his administration it was obvious the old man already brought in a new lexicon into the Nigerian polity by sponsoring groups to chant and sing his praises that he alone can run the country and he alone is the messiah that can do it all.

As a result of this; activist, lawyers, labour unions, socio movements rose up against this move and socio commentators where all over the place making their own noises. Indeed to these leaders, it just is what it is ‘noises’; because despite the constitutional provision of a two term period, this man was prepared to give it all it takes and the National Assembly was just there to help him. News of money exchanging hands filled everywhere, widespread corruption took center stage and reached its peak. Though Obasanjo refused to publicly declare he seeks a third term, his body language said it all, the groups fronting for him said it all, his own refusal to give answers when asked direct questions by pressmen said it all and the fact that his whole cabinet members and advisers clamored that he alone is the messiah crowned it all. At both chambers of the National Assembly-the Senate and House of Representatives there were divergent and disagreeing views. A topical issue it sure became all over Nigeria for close to a year and a half at the expense of national growth and development.

Royal dignitaries came into Aso Rock from all over the country to pay the President a visit and give him their supports and a lot of states to states visits were made by the old man, going by the fact that the President finds pleasure in making tens of foreign trips within few months and non within Nigeria; but this third term changed that because there was need to grease hands.

The root cause of this ambition is greed and what it produces in the system is corruption, widespread inflation and government work and activities become relegated while mediocrity takes over with everyone doing all so as to please the boss, I mean who wants to lose his job? Now non of the public agitations halted Obasanjo’s ambition because the National Assembly fixed a date to entertain the debate whether or not to amend the constitution to be able to allow the president run for a third term. But men forget easily that God rules in the Kingdoms of men and gives it to whomever that pleases Him. And as God would have it, He spoke by a Prophet-Pastor Tunde Bakare that if it rains anywhere in Nigeria(it was dry season then in Nigeria; the rains had not yet come), the third term issue would be dead. So the battlefield shifted and moved over to the church. On the day of the debate, text messages started streaming in to the Pastor that it rained here, it rained there, even at Abuja and more so on the National Assembly-the third term issue was just heard to have been dead and no one knew how it happened other than those who knew about the prophesy and believed it was the hand of God.

To my brothers and sisters in Indonesia; be strong and rise up against every form of self perpetuation and know that these people do not invent a new wheel but use the same old ones being used by those of the past, even though they come in another or different form. Fight for a true people’s government and do not allow yourselves to be imposed upon a government you have no pleasure in. Whoever amends a constitution that grants him two terms and brought him into power to allow him a third term, will do same at the end of that third term to enable him a fourth term and so on until he dies in government house. It is an insatiable spirit, like fire that never devours enough, don’t be fooled!

Every time the Obama Regime does something that does not make sense to Americans who believe in the Constitution and our free-market economy I always hear the question raised with a sense of disbelief, “How can he do that, I thought he was smarter than that”.

Using traditional objective standards, it would be easy to reach the conclusion that Obama is very smart:

- Harvard Law School graduate

- Editor of the Harvard Law Review

- Constitutional Law Professor at Harvard

It would be difficult to argue that his resume does not scream “smart”, maybe even brilliant. But, if we look at some real world events, a counter image begins to emerge.

- He apologizes for America on every trip abroad, and believes this will help to ‘repair’ our country’s image

o Now the Europeans and the Chinese are giving us economic advice because we look like fiscal fools

- He believes Iran is open and rational, with support now of an administration that has changed it posture on how it approaches dealing with Iran. He appears confident that “hope and change” will change Iran’s leadership

o Well, this is not working out too well

- He gives Russia all it wants in terms of missile defense, believing he will get Russia to give the US support in the United Nations against Iran

o Another failure to understand global scene

-His statements about the health care bill: “The bill forbids any federal funds to be used for abortion procedures”

-Some exchanges being set up will allow funds to go for abortions

o Children with pre-existing conditions will be covered immediately

- Not for several years

o It is not just a health care bill; it is also a jobs bill and will create many thousands of jobs.

- Already major companies are taking billions in write downs. Does that sound like a jobs growth strategy?

How can this be? So smart yet …

Occam’s Razor says the simplest answer is most often the right one.

Well, Obama is brilliant, he knows exactly what he is doing, but his real agenda is kept hidden from us.

The most recent battle over health care legislation is the third volley in a clandestine effort to transform America away from the principles of the Founding Fathers and towards the establishment of over-reaching government bureaucracies that by their very nature will move the country inextricably toward socialism.

We must all learn to see beyond the surface tension in legislative battles that are in progress, and those that will come in the near future (Cap and Tax/Immigration).

The country had been pushed to pass bailout legislation that has put our federal government in the banking, insurance and car businesses. This has resulted in the unlawful negation of legal contracts, the firing of corporate executives and the use of public funds to launch marketing programs for selected car manufactures.

We were also pushed to pass a job stimulus bill that had to pass quickly or unemployment would exceed 8.5%. Well almost a trillion dollars later unemployment is near 10%, and if you include people who have dropped out of the job market, but want to work, the effective unemployment rate is close to 17%.

The reality, the allocation of stimulus dollars helped state and local governments meet their growing debt, which resulted in virtually no job creation. So, what does an administration, whose real intent is to grow government, do in the face of this outrageous failure and deceit; they change the metrics of success from job creation (a measurable statistic) to jobs saved (a non-measurable statistic). Clearly, the real objective of these efforts and the stated objective have little in common.

When you peel back the outer layer of carefully crafted obfuscation, it is clear that the Obama administration’s real agenda is usurping the individual constitutional rights of Americans in favor of a collective view of equality and fairness. Mr. Obama (and the people he has chosen to surround himself with) has laid a consistent, publicly stated, foundation for this attack on the constitution. But the majority of voters were not ‘really’ listening during the campaign. To protect our way of life, based on the founding fathers principles, the constitution and the Bill of Rights we must review, with a clear eye, what was said in the past and actively listen to what is being said now:

“The constitution is a list of negative freedoms…” (Obama)

“The Constitution is an abstract legal document…” (Obama)

“Everybody is better off if we spread the wealth around…” (Obama)

“The benefits of the first amendment are overrated…” (Rohm Emanuel)

“The courts have not gone far enough in redistributing wealth…” (Obama)

“We are just a few days aware from fundamentally changing America…” (Obama)

We must all be aware that the rhetoric that surrounds each battle that surfaces is not about the battle. All fights for changes in our laws and statutes are about the War against the U.S. Constitution. Do not be distracted by the socialists-leaning politicians who use the tool of “outrage” – how can the evil right be so cold hearted not to want to help people – to break our resolve to be true to our principles. We must never think, it (European Socialism) can’t happen here.

How smart is Obama? He is scary-smart.

A marketing/branding consultant was moved from a political couch potato to a patriotic activists by the actions of the Obama Regime and started a company to help American patriots go face-to-face with their politicians. check out http://www.commonsensewear.com and http://www.commonsensewear.wordpress.com

The mid-term elections have caused quite a shake-up for nonprofit art organizations as Republicans now have control of the House of Representatives and the Democrats still have the majority in the Senate. The good news: there are some returning and new champions of the arts- Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Representative Todd Platts (R-PA), and Representative Louise Slaughter (D-NY), Representative Jerry Moran (R-KS) and Representative Mark Kirk (R-IL). On the state government level, Governors-elect Jerry Brown (D-CA), Dan Malloy (D-CT), Tom Corbett (R-PA), Neil Abercrombie (D-HI), Lincoln Chaffee (I-RI), Mark Dalton (D-MN), John Hickenlooper (D-CO) and Rick Snyder (R-MI) and locally in Providence, RI Mayor-Elect Angel Taveras and Louisville, KY Mayor-elect Greg Fischer. The bad news: as of the time of the election, the recession has caused a 16% drop in state and local government arts funding as well as a $1.2 billion decline in private charitable gifts. The shaky news: with Congress now divided and Republicans promising to cut government spending and focus on creating jobs, it begs a few questions: Will our newly elected leaders do anything to address the increasing number of individual artists that have experienced unemployment at twice the rate of other professional workers? What will they do to ensure the creative workforce is sustained so our next generation can compete effectively in the global workforce? Will they need a reminder that art works? In the words National Endowment for the Arts Chairman, Rocco Landesmen, the phrase has three meanings:

a.”Art works” is a noun. They are the plays, paintings, dances, films, and the other works of art that are the creation of artists;

b.”Art works” is a verb. It describes the effect of art on audiences and viewers, art works to transport, transform, inspire, and challenge us; and

c. “Art works” is a declarative sentence. It is a reminder that arts workers are real workers with real jobs who are part of this country’s real economy. Art workers pay taxes, and art contributes to economic growth, neighborhood revitalization, and the livability of American towns and cities.

The first priority of our newly elected leaders is to create jobs and grow the economy. If federal and state governments can understand that the nation’s 100,000 arts and culture nonprofits are actually part of the small business sector, then perhaps they will afford us the attention we deserve. A mutually beneficial relationship can then be established in which the government creates policies promoting nonprofits and nonprofits in turn, create jobs for their communities.

What is promising is that in several hearings over the past four years, the House of Representatives have focused on the role of the arts in the economy and workforce development. These hearings have led to over $100 million in new public investments in the arts. The bipartisan Congressional Arts Caucus and the Senate Cultural Caucus work to educate freshman members on how the arts profit the economy. You can send your Congress members a letter asking them to consider joining one of these bipartisan caucuses.

Only time will tell if the 2010 mid-term elections will result in a boon for the nonprofit sector. With a little optimism and some tips to beat the recession (link back to Recession article), we may all find that the new political situation is not as dire as we feared and weathering this new storm will be easier than we thought.

Is your Congress member for or against public funding of the arts? How do you plan to work with your local and state government to ensure continued funding of arts and culture nonprofits? Are you concerned that Congress’ shift in power will negatively effect your organization?

Yancey Arts Consulting’s goal is to help organizations first achieve sustainable practices and the establish a plan to Move Beyond Sustainability with growth revenue strategies. Their website is at http://www.yanceyconsulting.com

(Summary: the big question is why the public schools waste so much time on weird non-academic topics, most of them hostile to traditional beliefs? The real witch in this story may be the Education Establishment.)

This is a story about a missed opportunity.

But first we have to ask what is the big deal? Still a teenager, O’Donnell dabbled in witchcraft; and then moved on. It shows she’s open to new ideas but doesn’t lose her perspective and become rigid. No wonder ideologues are upset with her. Personally, I believe I’m more afraid of Marxists than of witches.

Second, has anyone noticed that this entire country dabbles in witchcraft every October? It’s called Halloween; and it’s become a major national event. The symbols and iconography of witchcraft permeate American life for a few weeks every year; witches on broomsticks appear in millions of lives. Are all the people who participate in this witchfest unfit for public office?

But let’s move to the heart of the story. O’Donnell, a teenager, dabbled in witchcraft because her boyfriend, a teenager, was intrigued by witchcraft. And where, we should ask, did he (or they) get such ideas? Are there people walking around who suddenly have witchcraft moments?

No, I think we have to look at one of the more bizarre features of our public schools, which is that they routinely import exotic subjects such as witchcraft, Wicca, Deep Ecology, Earth Education, Earthkeepers, body modification, paganism, Gaia theory, nature worship, death education, suicide education, values clarification, sex education, New Age spirituality, to name a few. It’s a long list; and probably a few of these things have turned up in every school.

What business is it of public schools to mention witchcraft and the rest, never mind teach them? I believe the answer has two parts:

These exotic subjects serve the function of taking time away from academic content. Children studying witchcraft, etc. are NOT studying biology, math or French.

Next, exotic subjects like witchcraft, etc. undermine traditional religions, customs, and values. Kids learn to disrespect the beliefs of their parents, and to feel alienated from the society’s long-cherished attitudes.

For the Education Establishment, witchcraft is a twofer. Sabotage content. Sabotage ordinary American life. Wow, it doesn’t get any better than that.

So I was upset with Christine O’Donnell for a reason no one mentioned. She should have attacked the subversive atmosphere at her public school. She might at least have wondered, in passing, why in the world was witchcraft discussed? Why was time wasted on it? Why was it dangled in front of the kids as something weirdly fascinating from a faraway part of the universe?

Teenagers will usually find ways to rebel. They don’t need much help. But some public schools, to the degree they can get away with it, are often engaged in a sort of scorched earth attack on anything conventional or traditional.

The main tactic that John Dewey and his progressives (my favorite witches) introduced into American life was a steady attack on academic content. Dewey specifically said don’t worry about geography, math, history, reading, and all that stuff. What matters is the social life of the child. Now, does Dewey have to write his intent on a billboard at the end of your street? His goal was a socialist America. This was no secret to the people at Teachers College in 1920 and thereafter. Elite educators fell into the pattern of whittling away at anything intellectual or academic, while simultaneously praising or admitting nonacademic content any way they could reasonably do so. They’re still doing this. Witchcraft was merely one of many convenient ways.

If people want to study witchcraft, it’s their business. But public schools have a special mission they like to neglect, which is teaching children the foundational knowledge they will need throughout their lives. I’ve been urging Republicans and Conservatives to make education an issue in all elections. I hope Christine O’Donnell, looking back at her own experiences, will suggest how public schools could be improved.

——————

In all the comments I see left on internet articles about education, two themes dominate:

1) The first is, average Americans have no idea how bad the public schools are. The Education Establishment has done a brilliant job at PR and misinformation. They have tried to deceive the public; and the public is deceived. Unfortunately. So here are several quotes from some of the smartest, most successful people in the USA, people you should trust completely. And they are saying that educationally speaking we are now having a near-death experience:

“When I compare our schools to what I see when I’m traveling abroad, I’m terrified for our workforce of tomorrow.” Bill Gates, founder, Microsoft Corp.

“If companies were run like many education systems, they wouldn’t last a week.” Thomas Donohue, president, US Chamber of Commerce

“Our record at fixing our K-12 education system is virtually unblemished by success.” Norman Augustine, former CEO of Lockheed Martin

“If you don’t solve (the K-12 education problem), nothing else is going to matter all that much.” Alan Greenspan, former Chairman, Federal Reserve

Scared? You should be.

2) The second common theme is that the public seems to have no idea that the sabotage of the public schools (and thus our economy) was started long ago, 75 years or more. All the wonderful new methods discussed in your daily paper are the same old dreck from your grandparents’ day. The ideas were bad then, and still are today. (Typically, progressive ideas stress sociological and psychological abstractions, but there’s no mention of actually learning anything. So-called educators actually say such nonsense as, “It’s not important that children know historical facts as long as they can think historically.”)

Probably John Dewey’s quote from 1898 sums up the assault best: ” I believe that we violate the child’s nature and render difficult the best ethical results, by introducing the child too abruptly to a number of special studies, of reading, writing, geography, etc., out of relation to this social life.” That is, don’t teach them anything.

I’ve recently read a book called “So Little For The Mind” by a Canadian educator writing in 1953 (Canada being entirely under the spell of American ideas). This brilliant author, Professor Hilda Neatby, tells us how barren the educational landscape already was SIXTY YEARS AGO:

“Probably many Canadian parents would at least understand the attitude of the man who said, ‘Nowadays the school seems to be doing the job of the homes, and the home has to do the job the school was supposed to do. They spend their time teaching my son to wash his face; when he comes home I have to teach him to read and write.”

“For all his talk of democracy, the educator is generally authoritarian and dogmatic. Teacher-training institutions in general exist to indoctrinate; their task is not to discover truth, but to convey ‘the truth.’…[Future teachers] complain that whatever lip service may be paid to them, ‘logical self-expression, problem solving, and creative thinking’ are the very last things the college wants to develop in its students.”

“Whereas in the elementary school the child learned critical thinking, and in the junior high school, critical and independent thinking, in the senior high school he learns critical reflective thinking.” (Sarcasm, of course. Today, every day, we hear chatter about critical thinking. Look how far Canada had taken the same racket 60 years ago!)

All the dopey ideas that progressive educators had unloosed upon kids circa 1950 are still the latest thing today. Our so-called experts have moved forward with new names and terms, new propaganda and PR. True story: schools got ever dumber, the public was robbed in plain sight.

Many people are in despair and say the public schools cannot possibly be saved. Bruce Smartt in his wonderful book “The Harsh Truth About Public Schools” states his thesis that everyone should homeschool their kids, that public schools are a hopeless brew of left-wing politics and raw greed. People influenced by Smartt say we should close down the public schools. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea; I just don’t see this happening. So what are we to do?

One reason I’m more optimistic is that I think even the people inside education know how rotten it is. These phonies have created 50,000,000 functional illiterates. How do they live with that?

My hope is that more people get involved, get informed, and get indignant. Find out why Sight Words don’t work, Constructivism is nonsense, or New/Reform Math are hoaxes. You’ll never trust the Education Establishment again. That’s when we’re going to see progress.

My site Improve-Education.org explains such underlying issues. For example, see “42: Reading Resources” and “36: The Assault on Math.”

Bruce Deitrick Price is the founder of Improve-Education.org, a high-level education and intellectual site. One focus is reading; see “42: Reading Resources.” Another focus is education reform; see “38: Saving Public Schools.” Price is an author, artist and poet. His fifth book is “THE EDUCATION ENIGMA–What Happened to American Education.”

U.S. voters elect 435 House of Representatives, 37 senators and most of the governor, state senators and representatives and state department heads. The Democratic Party suffered defeat, losing the House majority, could barely more than half of the Senate. 37 seats in the Senate election, the Republican Party swept 23 seats, the Democratic Party had only 10 seats, along with their original 38 seats with no election, and two independent members of the Democratic Party tend to stand, the Democratic Party barely continue to control the Senate. House of Representatives, the Republicans also made big gains ahead. Gubernatorial elections, almost dominated by the Republican Party, according to the latest statistics, the hands of Republicans from the Democrats, more grab a seat on the governor, is central Iowa, a total of nine states sweeping changes. Democrats can only seat in the California governor, take it over from the hands of rivals.

Power two years later, Obama will have become the “lame president?” The answer is not necessarily.

Peculiar American political reality is that most of the opposition parties control Congress, but will the president’s policy position. Prior to the Democratic Party hold for both administrative and legislative initiative, and must shoulder the ultimate responsibility for the problems. Thereafter, but no longer have such a burden. President Truman in 1948, the Democratic Party is not high reputation, but also face the Republican controlled Congress, he has skillfully portrayed the Republican Party to impede progress, and then win the election. By 1994, Clinton is also a mid-term election defeat, out of the entanglement of the liberal forces within the party, so that the policy more flexible. The Democratic Party was defeated in this election, but will help the Obama campaign for re-election. If the Republicans win the House and Senate, Obama Mashun Li will raise the chances of re-election. If the Democrats hold both houses of Congress will be hovering around Obama, the relative compression of his room for this.

Since Barack Obama became president, so far, has been gradually pushed the United States similar to the European-style socialism: its purpose is to expand the jurisdiction of the people the government authority, especially in health care, education, social security benefits, the uneven distribution of rich or poor, large nationalization of enterprises, protection of labor rights and other fields, the government is duty-bound, should spare no effort to monitor people’s normal life. But we all know, the United States over the past century the country strong and rich people is built on top of the free economic doctrine: the point is that government authority should be limited to the jurisdiction of national defense, foreign affairs, infrastructure construction, natural disasters relief, maintenance of environmental protection, health care and other areas to promote . In addition, allowing the free development of all. Today, freedom of the people are gradually being convinced that development of American socialism, Obama and the Democratic Party control of Congress to erode. Look at them after taking office, has done to change the future direction of the U.S. generous? Regardless of the opposition Republican Party and the majority of the public, Congress and the President signed forced through the health insurance reform bill, forcing the size of trade and industry and the general government to join the direct supervision of the national medical insurance schemes; to increase the rich, middle class and the size of the industrial and commercial tax rate; strengthening supervision of the financial sector and the lessons to special tax; into a lot of money to save the collapse of the crisis, General Motors Corporation; implementation of the $ 800,000,000,000 plan to revive the economy, but the return rate of no gain, so far the economy remains depressed. National unemployment rate has been high, abnormal slow economic recovery, and even further into the possible economic depression. Obama the above measures, and it would cost the state finance 1 trillion U.S. dollars without any income at all. Now, the U.S. Treasury has long been empty, all of the 1 trillion U.S. dollars and the mad from the issue of government bonds by printing money, the result is that future generations are more heavily back the bonds. Even worse, discontent everywhere, requiring the expenditure of government debt crunch, by repealing the Obama health insurance reform bill, continue to back Bush’s tax cut bill and a free economy such as the voice of Marxism, resounding. Republicans called for under the banner of the size of industrial and commercial sectors, the financial sector and state voters have joined the anti-Obama camp.

United States Constitution gives the Congress the right to control the national purse. If Congress does not grant this, Obama can not implement their own health insurance reform bill. Mid-term elections will determine the country toward the future: to continue to move towards American-style socialism, Marxism, or return to the embrace of the free economy? Its importance, nature is a glance.

Obama recently said he expected after the election, it can be compared with the Republican Party to establish relations of cooperation. He said: After the election, Republicans may consciously heavier responsibilities.

If the president can give full play to the hands of administrative resources, Obama is still promising. He can for the economy, energy, education and other topics, try to compromise with the Republican Party, or can be labeled as the other constraints of the opposition everywhere, as Bill Clinton 15 years ago the then House Speaker Gingrich treatment.

After November 2, Obama must learn to deal with the situation on Capitol Hill: Obama will have to further ventured alone, into the Republican “instigation” some members “defection” to make their own medical and financial push reform bill was Republican controlled House passed. This will be a difficult task, since Obama took office, the Republican members of Congress on the Democratic president has adopted a “lack of cooperation” attitude; Unless a miracle happens, Obama deadlocked or otherwise entangled the two parties being more likely.

The Democratic Party lost the midterm congressional elections, Obama would face possible “lame duck” fate, but he can choose not to “lame duck” sworn promises to restore the “inter-party cooperation.” For Obama and Democratic Party, lost the opportunity to reverse the mid-term elections there, but how to achieve the unity of ideal and reality, to re-capture voters trust the next two years is the biggest problem.

Every couple of years, we have seen both good and bad politicians enter public office. Most would claim to be miracle workers who strive to enhance the quality of life of their voters. But the real tests comes on how well they keep their promises and how they effectively manage political issues when they’ve won their seat in parliament. Cheri DiNovo is a Canadian social democratic politician who has been referred to as “the new female power [in politics]” by journalists. Her climb to politics has been a series of turnabouts which makes for a very interesting story.

Cheri DiNovo is a Toronto born native and a mother of two girls. Through a series of tragedies including her mother’s death, she made it her goal to help transform the lives of others for the better. Becoming an ordained minister of the Emmanuel-Howard Park United Church was her first platform to achieving that goal. In fact, Cheri performed the first legalized same sex marriage in North America before the law changed in 2001. She also works actively to fight for the human rights of marginalized communities including women, the poor, LGTB individuals and the homeless.

After 12 years as an outspoken minister, Cheri decided to run for public office as she believed that she can do more good for the poor, and dispossessed in politics. In 2006, she represented the New Democratic Party. The election process went on an ugly turn when her opponents decided to use the controversial components of her life on the streets against her. This became known as the worst public smear campaign of the 2006 election year. The tactic however, backfired and Cheri was elected to Queen’s Park on September 14 to represent the provincial riding of Parkdale-High Park. She was also then re-elected as a member of the provincial parliament in 2007.

Today, Cheri continues to fight for a wide range of Canadians ranging from small business individuals to those below the poverty line. Cheri also continues to pursue various poverty related issues including the increase in the minimum wage rate and welfare rates in the province. She also persists for more affordable housing and introduced policies to end the government tax on the federal child benefit supplement.

Her two major campaigns to end poverty in Ontario were the Living Wage Bill and Payday Lending Bill. The Living Wage Bill aims to increase Ontario’s minimum wage rate to $10.25 while the Payday lenders Bill deals with licensing and capping interest rates charged within the various industries. These policies have received strong support from the media and millions of residents across Ontario. In fact, Cheri DiNovo Facebook page increased in viewership throughout her various campaigns. It makes sense since during her movement to get the bills passed in 2007, one million Ontarians were making less than the $10 rate. It was hard fought battle, one that was rebuffed and then later approved by the McGuinty government in 2010 where the minimum wage rate was raised to $10.25.

Cheri DiNovo is a wonderfully articulate, educated and well informed MPP who strives to enhance the lives of millions of Ontario residents. In a technology driven society, her Cheri DinNovo blog and Cheri DiNovo Twitter account provides detailed information of ongoing campaigns and as a medium to get opinions across. As a woman who struggled, fought and thrived through life, you can expect nothing less from her at Queen`s Park. It might be worth it to follow her through her political journey, good and bad.

As a political leader in the limelight, Cheri DiNovo Facebook page offers citizens of Ontario daily updates on her most recent campaign to repeal breed discrimination. Visit the Cheri DiNovo blog for easy access to news feed and more.

Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines arrogance as “an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions.” This is one of the terms that were used to describe why Adrian Fenty was not re-elected as mayor of the nation’s capitol.

As we approach a major mid-term election period, questions are being raised about a number of local, state and national campaigns. In some locations, the primaries decided the next elected official because of the party numbers. In other areas, the decision will go down to the wire and, as is the case with some close calls, may be determined by court decisions.

Those in the early races have already experienced either the “joy of victory” or suffered from the “agony of defeat.” Such was the case in the mayoral election with the young incumbent in Washington, D.C.

From such a promising start, former Mayor Adrian Fenty made some critical mistakes, including a perceived arrogant stance and seemingly he forgot that accomplishments are one thing, but knowing the pulse of the people is the main key to victory.

According to many reports in local publications, including the Washington Post and others, Adrian Fenty initially won the mayoral election with an overwhelming majority from White and Black voters in a campaign that was deemed to not be “defined by race, but by a discussion that included competence, government efficiency and best practices.”

He brought many positive ideas to “The District” and was able to maintain the support of the White community. Unfortunately, the broad base and post racial momentum that got Fenty elected began to dissipate with many in the Black community who felt that he was not catering to their needs, particularly in the area of job creation and remembering his support base.

“You have to keep your eyes and ears on the pulse of the community and to maintain your connection to the needs of your constituency,” states James A. Garner, former mayor of the Village of Hempstead, N.Y. “The ones who elected you are the ones you have to serve as their elected official.” Even as he approached the primary with significant achievements under his belt, he apparently disregarded warnings and reports that he was coming across “aloof and uncaring.”

Whether it is an arrogant air or just an ignorance of the needs of the public, many Black politicians should heed the warning signs and re-trace their steps to victory as they approach re-elections or the “one term and out” chant will cause another dearth of Black leaders in government houses across the country.

“The role of the politician today, especially Black politicians, if we are to learn anything from the loss experienced by Adrian Fenty and Artur Davis in Alabama is to not take your base for granted,” adds Garner. “Clearly, the Black vote made a difference in both of those elections and the voters did not feel that their officials were representing their interests, so they were voted out. That speaks volumes for those who do not think that the Black vote should be taken seriously.”

Atlanta, GA – A diverse group of women representing all walks of life, faiths, and ethnicities assembled recently at the Atlanta Civic Center for the “Women in Power Multicultural Forum,” a spirited get-out-the-vote rally featuring a mixture of local, state, and national speakers that discussed women as “Game Changers” and urged the audience to visit, call, text, or email at least 100 women to tell them to vote early or on November 2.

“Women make are the majority voters in Georgia; that’s power,” said Evelyn Gibson Lowery, chair of sclc/Women’s Organizational Movement for Equality Now and co-convener of the forum. “It was important for us to bring together women of all cultures to talk about the influence women have at the polls and to encourage all women to actively participate in the political process.”

With Fox 5 News anchor, Lisa Rayam presiding, the upbeat event included women of all ages from children bearing get-out-the-vote signs they created to seniors distributing voter education materials. Dr. E Faye Williams, National Congress of Black Women, traveled from Washington, DC to discuss the ballot power of women nationally. The former counsel to the U.S. Congress, Williams said women are the majority voters and 2008 demonstrated the power women have at the polls.

“Women all over the world are powerful,” said Helen Kim Ho, Asian American Legal Advocacy Center. “We all care about fair opportunities in work or business. We all care about the economy. We all care about education. We care about public safety. And, right now we have some civil rights and human rights issues going on that make this election so important for many reasons. We need you to go out to vote and take everyone you know along with you,” she added.

Honorable Shirley Franklin pointed out that the significance of this election can not be underestimated. “Some people are doing okay but most folks are having a hard time. We cannot ignore the fact that government policy makes a difference in the lives of everyone from the cradle to the grave,” Franklin added.

“The speakers exemplified the power of women,” said Rita Jackson Samuels, of the Georgia Coalition of Black Women and co-convener of the forum. “We had Mayor Dixon of Riverdale, Dr. Violet Johnson of Agnes Scott College, Monica Maldonado from the Latino Community, Krista Brewer from Georgia Women’s Actions for New Directions, former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, and several college students were in attendance.”

Lauren Yvettte Williams, Clark Atlanta University, Shenaika Davis, Agnes Scott College and Emma Harger, Georgia State University talked about the impact the collegiate vote had on the 2008 election and discussed what they are doing on their campuses to get-out-the-vote in 2010.

Three North Atlanta High School students, “The Trio,” Miss Georgia 2008, Chasity Hardman, and Rene Crutcher, provided the music during the event. Those who were not old enough to vote were urged to make sure to tell their family, neighbors and teachers to vote.

After a moving soliloquy, actress/singer/activist, Sheryl Lee Ralph gave the audience their marching orders. “Don’t let this moment be the end of it” Ralph said. “You must get involved. You must get informed. You must get educated. You must take action. Vote and make sure everyone you know votes.”

In a speech on 9/6/2010 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin it was painful to see President Obama go off the prepared remarks on the teleprompter complaining about how “They talk about me like a dog.”

I wrote an article 8/31/2010, President Obama Does “Wag the Dog” in a Deflation Economy. You can see it if you google (Obama wag the dog) or (wag the mosque). In it I called him out for coming out in favor of building the Manhattan muslim mosque. I said he was trying to divert attention away from the deflation economy slipping into depression and the possibility that the Democratic Party may lose control of both houses of Congress in the November 2010 midterm elections.

To “Wag the Dog” is a euphemism for a politician starting a war or doing something else to get the heat off his own back.

What I was said was, President Barack Hussein Obama was doing a “Wag the Mosque” just 2 months after he did “Wag Arizona” over that states new illegal immigrant law. I went on to say in so many words – President Obama you were caught in a lie and a fraud. President Obama was trying to divert attention away from the fact that the deflation economy under his left leaning administration is sick and that his Democratic Party is in trouble in the 2010 midterm elections.

Also, the fact that business is frozen in uncertainty and fear is a big problem. Uncertain business people see one after another big spending measure. First, we got QE1, Quantitative Easing One. Now QE2 is projected to be bond buying stimulus by the federal government with the help of the Federal Reserve to the toon of 75 billion per month.

Business people just learned that the Obamacare health care bill had more red tape. Apparently, every transaction over $600 has to have an IRS 1099 form filed. Each and every time. An overload or red tape and a big waste of time for businesses trying to make a living. By the way, the health care reform act was ruled by the courts to actually be a tax increase. He said it was not a tax. Liar!

Business people are afraid to hire, spend, expand, loan, lease, buy or borrow. His socialistic increased wealth redistribution and ever bigger more wasteful government stimulus plans will make the coming Greater Depression last three times longer and be three time larger than the depression back in the 1930′s.

Only 10% of the President Obama staff have any business experience and none have any economic savvy. The best way to create jobs is to lower taxes and let business do the hiring. Those are the kind of jobs that last. Not government funded “shovel ready” make-work projects. Project done. Job gone. Just last week Obama admitted in public that there was no such thing as a “shovel ready” project.

Those of you who still have their head spinning around over the building of the mosque 560 feet from the 9/11 ground zero 51 Park Avenue site are being played like pawns in a game. You have been officially “wagged and punked.” You have been fooled again. It won’t get built. 100,000 people would put up picket lines around it and the loyal unions would not cross those lines to work on it.

Especially, if the Imam, Feisal Abdul Rauf, refuses to break away from the harsh, excessive and violent to women sharia law. Muslims in favor of sharia law should not be allowed to build a mosque anywhere in America. Why don’t governments of the world get down on the Muslim countries for their antiquated sharia law and unjust treatment of women? Oil! What a copout by weak chicken politicians worldwide. Women beaten, stoned, not allowed to do anything but housework day in and day out. Raped by their husbands. Absolute stone age cruelty and un justice to women.

I think the real reason President Obama came unglued was related to the, CRIMES AGAINST LIBERTY, book by David Limbaugh, Rush’s brother. It hit the bookstore shelves 8/23/2010. It’s number 1 on the non-fiction New York Times Best Seller list. There is some big time “They talk about me like a dog” going down in David’s book. He says that President Obama’s politics and personality threatens our liberties in the name of an ivory tower utopian world view with only room for socialism at a scary scale and that Obama is a vindictive school yard bully and holds American ideas and ideals in repudiation and contempt. David Limbaugh’s book also says Obama is doing an assault on our prosperity, our security, and ultimately, our liberty.

The truth hurts. Doesn’t it? So, he blurts out, “They talk about me like a dog.” Those remarks were not scripted on the teleprompter. He even says so in the video clip. It’s probably on YOUTUBE by now. What a whiner in chief! Let’s turn the light on the President Obama’s nasty personality along with the elitist socialist America hating crew of cockroaches with which he has surrounded himself. He wants to weaken America.

The President Barack Hussein Obama Junior, that we elected is on a mission to make the America pay for every imperial and colonial act in the past. This was the anitcolonialist dream of his socialist, drunken and philandering father, Barack Obama Senior (deceased). Wealth redistribution, carbon consumption taxes, increased income taxes, Obamacare, and control of every little thing business does are part of Obama Junior’s anticolonial socialist crusade to bring down America. He sees the U.S. as an evil empire ripping off the third worlds resources and lording over the rest of the nations. Muslims who oppose and fight against those that would suppress them are freedom fighters and resisters to American imperialism in his mind.

Sure, build the mosque near the 9/11 Ground Zero site to be a “black eye” and rub salt in our wounds. Barack Hussein Obama Jr. didn’t even even protest when they released the convicted Lockerbie bomber. A person who planned the killing of hundreds of Americans. President Obama’s father’s antiquated anticolonial and socialist dreams are becoming our nightmare. Obama Junior’s self-written autobiography is titled, DREAMS OF MY FATHER. So, don’t try and tell me otherwise.

Let’s see Obama’s real birth certificate. Is he even a citizen? He has spent over a million dollars fighting people trying to get his records released to the public. And While I’m at it, why did Barack Hussein Obama get the Nobel Peach Prize? He hadn’t done anything to deserve it yet. Was it up front hit money for the one-world-government and new-world-order work he would be doing for the world power elite bankers and other “Big Brother” wannabe-be’s?

Start being a contrary thinker or you will be the one caught up in politicians lies and frauds. Watch out for the next “Wag the Dog.” A war with Iran. The deflation economy is quickly becoming the GREATER DEPRESSION thanks to leftist leeches like Obama and his one-world-government favoring socialist supporters. Plan on a 90% drop in price in most assets and 30% unemployment by 2016. Stupid is as government does.
